# The Labels Window

# 🏷️ The Labels Window

Labels let you **spot your blocks at a glance**: give them a name and a colour, then stick them on as many blocks as you like, across any graph in the project. It's a cross-cutting classification, not a property of the block itself. 🎯

## 🖱️ 1. Opening the window

**`Cmd+Shift+L`**, or the **"Labels"** entry in the project's main menu.

## ➕ 2. Creating a label

In the left panel, click **"Add"**. A new label appears, with a random colour and an automatically generated name.

Select it to customise it:

-   **Name**: the text field, confirmed with Enter or by clicking elsewhere.
-   **Color**: the colour swatch next to it.
-   **Remove**: the button at the bottom of the panel.

🔺 There is **no icon picker**. In every list where labels appear (the Labels window, the right-click menu, the search filter), each one is shown with the same generic tag icon, simply tinted with its colour. Only the name and colour tell them apart.

🔺 Renaming a label or changing its colour **updates every block carrying it**, across every graph in the project, automatically.

## 🖱️ 3. Applying a label to blocks

This doesn't happen in this window, but on the **graph canvas**:

1. Select one or several blocks (click, or a selection box for several).
2. Right-click → **"Label selection"**.
3. Pick a label from the submenu, or **"Remove label"** to clear it.

The chosen label is applied **to the whole selection at once**, whether it's a single block or a multi-block selection: one click labels them all together, no need to go block by block.

🔺 A block can only carry **one label at a time**: picking a new one replaces the previous one, it doesn't add to it.

## 🔍 4. Finding blocks by label

The Labels window itself doesn't list which blocks carry a given label. For that, open the **"Search"** window (`Cmd+Shift+F`): next to the search field, a tag-shaped button lets you filter the results by label.

## 🗑️ 5. Removing a label

The **"Remove"** button on the panel deletes the label from the project.

🔺 Deletion is **immediate and project-wide**: every block carrying that label, in every graph, loses it at once. There is no confirmation step, and no way to limit the removal to a single graph.
