⬜ Story

The Story block allows you to create and manage linear or tree-based narrative experiences in a centralized manner, avoiding cluttering the canvas with hundreds of individual blocks.

This block is particularly suitable for "Visual Novels", guided courses with dialogues or complex scenarios, offering a dedicated interface for writers and level designers.

πŸ“₯ Entries

  • Stream: Activates the scripted scene, usually triggered by the player arriving in a specific area.
  • Script/Narrative structure (Internal): Story elements, dialogues and actions (display of portraits, backgrounds, etc.) are edited directly in the internal interface of the block.

πŸ“€ Outings

  • Done (Stream): Triggered when all the texts, scenes and interactions managed by the block have been browsed by the player.

πŸ’‘ Example of use

Scenario: Introductory dialogue with an NPC

  1. The player enters an area triggering a narrative event.
  2. A Story block is placed on the canvas to manage the dialogue sequence.
  3. In the block's internal editor, the designer defines:
    • Line 1: "Welcome to our village, stranger."
    • Retort 2: "Do you need help finding your way?" (with display of the NPC portrait)
    • Line 3: "Don't hesitate to come back and see me." (transition to a sunset background)
  1. The player clicks to advance the dialogue, which is displayed smoothly and in sync.
  2. At the end of the dialogue, the Done output activates, allowing you to move to a Choice block or a new scene.

βš™οΈ Technical Details

  • Modular encapsulation: This block functions like a mini-chronological graph, optimizing the maintenance of large textual productions.
  • Usage recommendation: Preferred over the basic Dialogue block when the sequence exceeds three consecutive interactions without branching.
