🔱 Conceive an adaptative path

Link to example: https://creator.celestory.io/project/cMia0xvYC

What are the different ways of mastering knowledge?

Different paths leading to different levels of mastery. Each learner is unique. While offering personalized coaching, you can analyze the different profiles of your learners.

Let's look at the difference between a linear path (Powerpoint or classic E-learning) and an adaptative path:

Linear path (identical for all of them)

Personalized

Adapts to each person's level based on previous answers

In the linear example, there is only 1 way to learn.

In the adaptative example, there are 4 levels of proficiency...

BEGINNER (12 courses)

LEARNING (4 courses)

KNOWLEDGE (6 courses)

EXPERT (1 course)

...and 23 different learning paths!

There are many behaviours and causalities that can lead to a more or less good mastery of the subject concerned.

Here's how to create a personalized learning path on Celestory.

1. To Start in Celestory

Go to: https://creator.celestory.io/home/examples

Let's open the example that is titled '💠 Adaptative path

Simply click on the cover picture to open the project.

It is also good to note that it is possible to create a 'New Project' from scratch on the projects page, click on the 'New project' in the far right corner.

2. Open an app project

Let's go back to the example project '💠 Adaptative path

This graph is made with blocks organizing your content and representing your logic.

3. A project is made of Modules

Modules are parts of your app experience. The modules have graphs that are built in them, these can be found on the side menu to the left . Each project has a Starting Module which has a Starting graph.

To learn more about Modules, go to 🗃 Modules Organization

4. A graph is made of colored blocks

Each block has a specific feature and is type is named according to it's function. A block can have a specific title modified by you to help you recognize its content.

The main blocks are:

🟩 Start (launch the scenario)

🟦 Alert (display a generic text like statements, questions or answers)

🟪 Choice (one type of user interaction)

Connector (a bridge between blocks)

The blocks are linked together by the Storyline, which represents all possible paths of the user.

4. Navigate on the graph

To navigate in the graph, click and hold your click on an empty spot and move your mouse.

There are 2 views on a graph.

A simple view to see only blocks titles (by default or modified by you)

A detailed view to see details of the block content

Ajust the view of the graph with your mouse wheel and swithc from a simple view to a detailed view.

Use the mouse wheel to zoom or alternatively click on the magnifying glasses.

The 4 arrows icon is here to ajust the view of the graph.

The bot icon is here to lauch a chatbot and help you in any case.

The blocks show the content that follows the Storyline, which represents the potential personalized paths of a user. The Storyline goes from an "out" arrow from a block to an "in" arrow from another one.

You will see in the graph Comments in boxes containing explaining text, not linked to the Storyline. Those are comments. They can be spread in all the graph and can only be seen by the app creator.

5. Open a block and change the content

On the left of the graph after start, double click on 'Introduction', which is the title of the first Alert block. A block title is just an indication for the app creator, it has no effect in the experience.

At this point you can change the text inside the 'Alert' block window. To close this window click 'X' to exit. Your change will be saved.

6. Preview the result instantly

Click the play button found on the header menu, you now have the live preview of your application!

Notice that the text you've just edited is now in the preview window 'Play test'.

7. Different paths to master knowledge

Unlike a linear path experience (like a Powerpoint presentation), an adaptative path marks a difference between users by routing them to a personalized path.

At the end, you can learn what are the different behaviors who lead to a knowedge mastery.

In our example, there are 4 knowledge masteries:

BEGINNER, AMATEUR, KNOWER & EXPERT

Those 4 levels are represented by groups of blocks.

All users starts with an AMATEUR mastery.

If a user gives a good answer, he upgrades to a KNOWER mastery.

Another good answer leads the user to an EXPERT mastery.

On the opposite, giving bad answer downgrades the user to lower mastery level, like the BEGINNER mastery.

8. Create an interaction

There are many ways of interaction in Celestory to route the user to a personalized path:

Make a Choice
Imput a text
Swipe a card
Click on a menu
...

Let's see how works a statement and a choice.

Double-click on the second Alert block called Question 1. You can then change the content of the statement. Then close the window.

Open the third block "Choice" (this one has no title). You can see the 3 choices propositions. You can change the content of them if you want.

Then 3 Alert blocks will show the answers linked to each choice.

In this example, both title and text of the block contains 🟢 Good anwser or 🔴 Bad answer.

Click on Preview current module to see instantly the result displayed on the app.

To better learn how the Alert block works, go to 🟦 Alert

To better learn how the Choice block works, go to 🟪 Choice

**9. Creating new perzonalized paths to route the user**

For each interaction like a choice, a personalization of the user path can be made. The following of the experience is different regarding the user behavior.

To create a new path, open the Edit window of the Choice block and click on + Text.

Enter another Choice proposition like Choice D.

Another proposition then appears on the detailed view of the Choice block.

The choices make a fork in the graph and each arrow choice needs linking to a new or current block.

Link your new choice so it is visible by the user. Click on the out arrow and drag it to extend the link of the Storyline it to an empty spot of the graph.

Unleash the click. The Add block menu appears. Select an Alert block to create another answer.

The Alert block is now created.

You can open the block and change the text of the block and its title.

Hold your click to the out arrow to extend the link.

Link it to the Question 2 (easy) block.

If the user gives the Choice D proposition, he will then be routed to the BEGINNER mastery group.

He will have opportunities to upgrade his mastery.
