Search a Block
π Search a Block
Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + F opens the Block search window. Past a hundred blocks in a project, spotting the right block by eye takes a while: this search does it for you, across the whole project.
π§ What the search looks at
Type in the Search field: results appear as you type. The search looks at several pieces of information at once:
- the block's name, if it has one;
- its type (for example Dialogue, Alert, Choiceβ¦);
- the label attached to it, if any;
- the text it contains, when that block type has one. For a dialogue block, for instance, the search covers the line text and the names of the characters who say them.
So you can find a block either by typing its name or by typing a snippet of a line said inside it.
ποΈ A block, wherever it is in the project
The search covers the whole project, not just the module currently open: results are grouped by graph, with the matching module's name shown above each group. The total number of blocks found is shown at the top of the results.
The index updates automatically as you add, edit or delete blocks. A refresh button (circular arrows icon) lets you force a full rebuild if needed.
π±οΈ Clicking a result
Clicking a result centers the canvas on that specific block. πΊ If the block lives in a different module than the one currently open, Celestory first switches to that module automatically, then recenters the view on the block a moment later.
Clicking takes you to the block in the graph, ready to be selected or opened: it does not open its edit window automatically, that step stays manual.
β Next step: once you've spotted the right block, head to The Graph Interface to edit it.
